Hiring in Hyderabad

Hyderabad is where global companies hire in India. A FICCI and Anarock report counted about 515 global capability centres in the city in March 2026, employing more than 3 lakh people, and the state's Socio-Economic Outlook 2026 says Hyderabad has about 20% of India's centres and drew 40 new ones in 2025, up to October, more than any other city. Every one of those hires has an identity, a degree and a work history to check.

How Telangana's universities answer degree checks

In October 2026 we reviewed the published verification process of all 46 universities and institutes in Telangana on the UGC and Ministry of Education lists. None offers an instant check by QR code or digital signature as its main route. 27 publish no way to verify a degree, which usually means requests are answered by letter or email as they arrive. Ten work by email, post or courier, and three accept or ask for a demand draft. Nine have an online portal, including the University of Hyderabad, which issues on the National Academic Depository. Published fees run from Rs 250 to Rs 4,000, with a median of Rs 550, and only seven publish a turnaround, from 3 working days to 30 days.

Police verification in Telangana

Which route applies to you

Private employer

Telangana Police's online i-Verify portal issues police verification certificates only for employees of central or state government offices, PSUs and defence establishments. It says requests for other private employees and security guards follow the older procedure through the Special Branch of the district.

In Hyderabad, the City Police's Special Branch handles antecedent verification for government and private jobs, and its MeeSeva services include a Certificate for Job Verification (Private). Checkkbox runs police verification online where the state police offer it, and offline otherwise, in the same report as the other checks.

Government or PSU-linked

Register your organisation on i-Verify, add each candidate with their documents, and pay Rs 1,000 per candidate through the Telangana State Treasury e-Payment system. Then generate the covering letter and track each certificate on the dashboard. The service launched in April 2021.

Landlord or household

Hyderabad City Police lists Tenant Verification and Servant Verification among its MeeSeva certificate services, applied for through TS MeeSeva. Neither page lists a fee. For home help, see also checks for families.

Going abroad

Police clearance certificates for study or work abroad are applied for on i-Verify, with a Rs 500 challan. They are not issued for visiting or tourist visas.

Fake certificates in Hyderabad

Fake-certificate cases in Hyderabad and Telangana, 2025 and 2026

February 2025Hyderabad police caught an interstate gang with 91 educational certificates.
May 2025The Commissioner's Task Force seized 108 certificates meant for candidates seeking jobs abroad or in multinational companies, and caught four people.
July 2025Cyberabad police arrested two people whose Kukatpally consultancy had supplied fake educational certificates to 46 people. 24 of them had travelled abroad on them.
July 2026Mirchowk police arrested a man selling fake educational certificates to people seeking jobs abroad and seized 15 certificates.
October 2026Telangana removed 35 government junior lecturers after universities confirmed their certificates were fake. The certificates of 320 more are under verification.

Several of these seizures were aimed at jobs abroad and at multinational employers, which is who hires in Hyderabad. Looking at a certificate does not catch a good fake. Asking the university does. Here is how to spot a fake degree certificate, and why only the issuer can confirm it.

Checking doctors and nurses

Hyderabad's hospitals hire at scale. The Telangana Medical Council has a public doctor search, and its registration certificates carry QR codes the public can check. The Telangana Nursing Council publishes no public register search: a nurse applies for a verification or good-standing certificate naming the hospital. IdentityAadhaar is re-validated with a fresh OTP, and you see only the last 4 digits and the result. PAN is fetched from the source with the candidate's consent.
